Raised near the town of Colchester
on the Suffolk/Essex border as the
third of four boys, Chris grabbed
the first opportunity he could to get
out and moved to Birmingham
to squat in his brother’s flat while
he was out of the country.
The intention was to set up his
first proper band somewhere with
a bit of a scene. The band released
one single and became something
of a name in the Midlands.

A chance move to London
resulted in the forming of a
new band and among other
things a residency in the South
of France, an American tour
and an independent album
deal. He also recorded the
music for a TV series
broadcast on Channel 5.
He has found himself at the
wrong end of a gun barrel
three times and been arrested
once. He was told by Bono to
‘stick at it’, interviewed Beck
while very drunk and was
given two pairs of socks by Huey
from the Fun Lovin Criminals.

He likes Chilean wine, French
actresses, has almost no
qualifications to his name, has
had paintings published
professionally, invented a game
called Skyball.
If he wasn’t in a band he would
like to be a professional pilot.

Woody Fact: Woody’s
great grandmother was from Mauritius.
